CHARLOTTE (July 21) -- Kilpatrick Stockton announced today the addition of Tim Gilbert to the firm’s growing Charlotte office. Mr. Gilbert joins Kilpatrick Stockton’s leading Corporate, Real Estate, and Finance Department as Counsel. In June, the Charlotte office announced the addition of Dr. John Zimmer who focuses his practice on various patent-related matters including patent prosecution in the chemical and biochemical areas.

Mr. Gilbert brings almost 30 years of legal experience in the financial services arena to Kilpatrick Stockton. He has a extensive background representing national institutional lenders in the origination and servicing of real estate loans for commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS) transactions collateralized by retail, office, industrial, multi-family, hospitality and health care properties. Mr. Gilbert also has significant experience in mezzanine loan financing transactions, structured finance, syndicated credit facilities and residential/commercial construction lending, as well as loan workouts and restructuring.

At Kilpatrick Stockton, Mr. Gilbert’s practice will primarily focus on the representation of financial institutions and special servicers in connection with the origination and servicing of commercial mortgage loans, with particular emphasis on non-performing real estate loans, the disposition of distressed commercial properties and the exercise of remedies, such as receiverships, judicial and non-judicial foreclosures and workouts. He will also represent special servicers in loan sale transactions and the modification and restructuring of defaulted mortgage loans.

Mr. Gilbert is a member of the American, North Carolina, and Mecklenburg County Bar Associations. He earned his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law and his B.A. from Wake Forest University, cum laude with honors.
